How to share to Petals
Pick your setup below — there's a one-tap or one-time way to save links to your garden from anywhere.
🧩 Browser extension (desktop)
You're on a Chromium browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi…) — the extension works great here.
- Unzip the download.
- Go to
chrome://extensions(oredge://extensions,brave://extensions). - Turn on Developer mode (top-right).
- Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder.
It's self-hosted (not in the Web Store yet), so it loads unpacked. The petal icon glows pink on pages you can save.
You're on Firefox — here's the add-on.
- Open
about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox. - Click Load Temporary Add-on… and pick the downloaded zip (or its
manifest.json).
Temporary add-ons clear when Firefox restarts (it's self-hosted, not yet signed on AMO). Prefer something permanent? Use the bookmarklet below.
Safari can't run this extension. Use a browser that can, or the bookmarklet below.
Your browser may not support our extension. Get one that does — or just use the bookmarklet below, which works anywhere.
Browser extensions don't run on phones — but the Shortcut (iPhone) or home-screen app (Android) below do the same job. The bookmarklet works too.

It says it can't import the shortcut?
iOS blocks unsigned shortcuts by default. Run any shortcut once, then go to Settings → Shortcuts → Advanced and turn on “Allow Untrusted Shortcuts,” then open the file again. If that's fiddly, the manual steps below always work.
Add Petals to your Home Screen
- Open petals.blog in Safari.
- Tap the ⋯ More button (in the redesigned tab/address bar), then tap Share.
- Choose “Add to Home Screen,” then tap Add. (iOS 26+)
- Open petals.blog in Safari, then tap the Share button (the square with an up-arrow, in the bottom toolbar).
- Choose “Add to Home Screen,” then tap Add. (iOS 16–18)
- Open petals.blog in Safari, then tap the Share button (the square with an up-arrow — bottom on iPhone, top on iPad).
- Choose “Add to Home Screen,” then tap Add. (iOS 15 or older)
Prefer to build the Shortcut by hand?
- Open Shortcuts → +.
- Add Action, search “Receive,” add “Receive What's On Screen from Share Sheet” (accept URLs)“Receive URLs from Share Sheet”“Receive URLs from Share Sheet”.
- Add “Open URLs.” In it, type the address below and insert Shortcut Input right after the
=:https://petals.blog/share?url=+ Shortcut Input - Rename it “Share to Petals” and ensure it shows in the Share sheet (iOS 26: in the ⓘ details, turn on “Use with Share Sheet”on by defaulton by default).
🤖 Android (Chrome)
- Open petals.blog in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, and choose “Install app” or “Add to Home screen.”
- Now from any app, tap Share and pick Petals — it opens the prefilled share form.
✓ Android Chrome supports sharing to Petals natively — no extra setup.
🔖 Bookmarklet (works in any browser)
Run this from your bookmarks on any page to send it to Petals.

How to save it
Desktop (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari)
- Make sure the bookmarks bar is showing (View menu, or Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + B).
- Right-click the bookmarks bar → Add page / New bookmark.
- Name it “Share to Petals,” paste the copied code into the URL field, and save.
- Click it whenever you're on a page you want to share.
iPhone / iPad (Safari)
- Bookmark any page (Share → Add Bookmark → Save).
- Tap the Bookmarks icon → Edit → tap your new bookmark.
- Rename it “Share to Petals,” delete the address, and paste the copied code as the URL. Done.
- Open it from your bookmarks while on any page to share it.
